Starring Robin Williams, along with others who are excellent and not as well known. A feel good family movie about the power of love, our universal connection, and the brilliance and creativity in our world. The music is outstanding, the child is a stunning actor. The story is actually believable because the actors are genuine. A modern day OLIVER. A must see.
Documentaries
- ON NATIVE SOIL
A very well done documentary about 9/11. Many of the family members of those who gave their lives that day insisted a commission be formed to invest and make public knowledge what happened. An amazing example of the power of quiet determination to be seen and listened to. And a very healing moment when Richard Clarke admits being negligent and asks for forgiveness.
- THE WEEPING CAMEL
I haven't seen this yet. Highly recommended by a colleague. Let me know how you feel about it if you see it before I do! I will put my comments in when I have some to put in.
Old ones that still work very well!
- ORDINARY PEOPLE
Remember that Mary Tyler Moore favourite of long ago??!! So painful and so well done. Really shows the healing that happens when one can tell their story and feel seen and understood. As well, the power effects on everyone in the family of loss and words unspoken.
- FRIED GREEN TOMATOES
What a favourite from the past! Again, the healing power of love. No longer paralysed when feeling safe enough to be fully who you are. Become renewed and energized as you find more and more parts of your lost and hidden self.
- THE COLOR PURPLE
Beautifully done! Really shows how change can happen when you are grounded enough to speak up for yourself! Identifying with the abuser debilitates. Refusing to accept the abuse impowers.
Not so old, well done, and painful
- COLD MOUNTAIN
Emotional growth when feeling seen and valued. Power and transformation of love.
- DREAMER
Emotional death when frightened and unable to resolve loss. Emotional strength and change when one feels believed in and believes in self. The healing power of joy and connection.
